Lambda VM: An Open-Source RISC-V zkVM

Lambda, Aligned, and 3MI Labs published the design principles of Lambda VM, an open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine for the RISC-V RV64IM instruction set.1

Design

Lambda VM proves execution with STARKs over the Goldilocks field and uses Keccak-256 for hashing. It requires no trusted setup. The codebase is about 50,000 lines of Rust, licensed under MIT and Apache 2.0.12

Compatibility

The VM passes all 72 tests of the RISC-V Architecture Compatibility Test suite. The Ethereum Foundation uses the same suite to evaluate zkVMs intended for proving Ethereum blocks.1
